Monity App Reviews

This is really nice app.

Like this app very much. It not only makes the notification center full and also provides useful information. Recommend it definitely.

Approved

I quite enojoy it. However it could be nice to have a more engaging numbers. Coloring them could be a positive step towards that.

Issues with it stopping for unkown reasons

I really like this app. It shows me what I want to see. I wish it would go in the above task bar, but it doesn’t and needs to be open at all times to be seen. Also it crashes offten. I have the Mid 2015 MBP with the dedicated graphics. I’m not sureo f the reason, but it is the reaon I am giving this 2 starts instead of 4. 5 would be it working in the task bar.

Buggier

It refuse to update the stats on the Notification Center. I’m on Yosemite running on iMac late 2012. Closing and reopen doesn’t fix it.

Great alternative to iStat Widget

A very nice replacement for iStat widget to go in the notifications center. Would be five stars if there was a top 4 processes list by CPU usage, which is where 90% of my iStat usage was: quickly identifying what was causing fans to spin up or the chassis to get hot.

Great App

This app is nearly a perfect 5, all I need is temperature monitoring and fan speed. Please add these. Thanks!

Pretty good

Works pretty well though it would be nice if you could add support for temperature and fan sensors as well as CPU usage for individual processes.

Crashes Too Much

I really like this app, and the info it provides can be very useful. However, it crashes a lot. What is a lot? When I am running it as a Today Widget, it crashes at least every 60-90 minutes, sometimes more often. As a standalone app, I have not seen it run without crashing for more than 3 hours.

Application does not correctly report Available Disk Space

Get Info on Macintosh HD 230GB Available, Monity Reports 136GB Monday spams system.log with the following messages: Aug 10 23:23:03 hostname.local MonityExtension[96276]: CoreAnimation: warning, deleted thread with uncommitted CATransaction; set CA_DEBUG_TRANSACTIONS=1 in environment to log backtraces. Monity Helper is horrible !!!

If you installed the Monity Helper, and choose to display memory, process, power etc. You will find there are many “top” commands running at background, like “ /bin/sh -c top -o cpu -l 2 -n 30 -stats pid, cpu, command | tail -n 30 | awk {print "<pid>"$1"</pid><name>"$3,$4,$5"</name><cpu>"$2"</cpu></item>”}’. “ This implementation is horrible, it will eat up your CPU resource and prevent your CPU into idle mode.

Works great!

This is a very nice widget and I love it! There is a small issue: the temperatures do not change to Celcius.

Celcius

Changing to Celcius in Temperature tab is not working. Please fix. Otherwise everything is good!

New Version lacks essential elements of original

I recently upgraded to the new version and found that the battery indicator for the mouse and keyboard had been removed. This was the only fature of Monity that I used. Simple one-click convenience for both. Now I must go to system preferences and choose them one by one -reopening system preferences. I wish they had stated in their upgrade notice that this feature had been removed and I would not have upgraded. I think I will now remove Monity from my computer.

Monity is a nice application but...

I rather like Monity, but the Helper isn’t that helpful. It increases CPU utilization noticeably (maybe not for everyone?) and there is no straightforward uninstall option. Also, the temperatures widget only shows Fahrenheit - even when switching to Celsius, it does not change (that, or my CPU core is melting at 152 deg Celsius…. those somewhat minor things keep it from getting the 5 star it truly deserves.

what is this

I downloaded it and it put itself in the Dock and opened its preferences, but I have no idea how you see the system data. Is this only a widget or something? What good is hat? I never use Dashboard and don’t know anyone who does.

Crashes all the time

I’ve had this app installed for a few months now, and it’s crashed more times than it has worked. Updates crash it as well. I’m bummed that I purchased it.

i Buy this app

Hello , Please Fix this app is not work for me , OS X 10.11.1 !

The one thing I wanted the most Monity lacks.

I have a late 2013 21” iMac. They do not have hard drive LEDS. I originally ran MenuMeters for system information, but MenuMeters does not work with El Capitan so I moved to Montity. However, Monity lacks the one thing I wanted most, a mock hard drive LED. I would like the ability to see when my hard drivces are active. Beyond that it has been one update after another (one critical because it kept crashing). I suspect Monity is responisible for corrupting the position of Notification Center Widgets also. Sick of the bugs, I decided to uninstall Monity, first by going to the Monity Menu and clicking on “Uninstall Monity Helper”. It did nothing. Egad! Yet another bug. Trust me, move on. I mourn the loss of MenuMeters. It was much more reliable.

Looks great.

Pretty nice. The only issue I’ve seen is that on my MBP (last 17” model, which is running El Capitan) the fans and temps are completely inaccurate. From a cool start it has high heat readings and also has the fan rpms clocking almost full speed when the fans don’t seem to be running. Other than that it’s great. Ok, I rebooted and things seem to be ok for the fans as far as I can tell. The temps still seem off. If they read 0 after I get home and the machine has been off for a good period I’ll be back to give it five stars. I like that the mouse battery indicator is displayed! Nice.

Works for me. El Capitan on Mac Book Air

I wanted something like iStat Pro. I found iStat Mini but wanted I temperature stats. Thanks to a review of iStat mini, I found Monity. I’m using El Capitan on a Mac Book Air and it gives me the stats I need on the fly and allows me to hide the ones I don’t need. I was worried because to get the temperature stats for Monity, I had to “get more panels" in-app The good news is that the add-on was free!
